ZECHARIAH’S SONG - BENEDICT'S
Day 3 - Morning
But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap.
From Malachi 3
Our Christmas our sentiment is typically not ““Who can stand when he appears…He is like a refiners fire”. Think about our songs, we are more meek and mild and gentle Jesus. Sometimes we forget the epic, reality shifting part of the story we are remembering. We pray again today, “Come Lord Jesus” to our broken world.

Father, in your Spirit,
Let the word of Christ dwell in us,
From Colossians 3
The Song of Zechariah with Response
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
For he has visited and redeemed his people;
And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
In the house of his servant David
As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets
Who have been from of old,
Salvation from our enemies,
And from the hand of all who hate us;
Let it be on earth as in heaven.
You have our allegiance,
You have our obedience,
Let your kingdom come,
Let your will be done.
To show mercy towards our fathers,
To remember his holy covenant,
The oath which he swore to Abraham, our father,
To grant to us that we,
being delivered out of the hand of our enemies,
should serve him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.
Because of the tender mercy of our God,
Whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,
To shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death;
To guide our feet into the way of peace.
You are tender and merciful
You are Immanuel,
A warm light, a new day for us,
under death’s shadow.
From Luke 1
Pause & Reflect
We are crucified with Christ,
It is no longer our life,
but Christ living in us.
We live by faith in the Son of God,
Who loved us, and gave himself up for us.
Our life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is our life appears,
then we will also appear with him in glory.
From Galatians 2 & Colossians 3
Come Lord Jesus.
