Update 1 - Advent 2016

Hello Friends,

Below are my church planting updates for Advent 2016. They also happen to be my very first update. I will be writing succinctly. If you have further questions, let me know.

Here we go!

A New Season

On December 1, I officially began a six-month residency at Awaken Community in St. Paul as church planter-in-residence. For those who are approaching church planting like we are, this residency has been crucial.

Wait...What are you doing?

Maybe you had no idea we are preparing to plant a church. Guess we should catch up. I'll tell you all about what is going on and how you can help. Shoot me an email, text, Facebook message, anything except a voicemail. *shudder*

The quick version...

  • Sinéad and I were assessed and "recommended without hesitation" in July by the Evangelical Covenant Church.
  • A six-month residency at Awaken Community in St. Paul (December 2016 - May 2017).
  • Planting officially begins in May, but I'll begin the work immediately of gathering a launch team and raising financial support.`
  • The goal is planting the first Awaken Community Parish.

Visit Awaken Community

Come visit and worship at Awaken Community. Why? It would be good to see you, and you'll get an idea of what this new church will feel like. Also, one of the first things I'm going to ask those who join us to do is to begin attending Awaken.

Christmas Services at Awaken would be a great time to visit. We'll gather Christmas Eve (12/24 ) at 2pm, 4pm & 11pm.  I'm personally leading the 11pm service where we'll sing and pray our way through the Christmas story. Which is the perfect way to greet Christmas morning.

Consider Partnering

Over the next six months I will be asking many of you to sit down over a beverage and discuss joining with us as either part of the launch team or as a financial partner. If you're heart's going, "yes" as you read this, don't wait for me to reach out to you. Hit me up. Especially if you're looking to do something financial in 2016.

Advent & Prayer

This Advent, use Advent daily prayer liturgies I've been putting together at LORD TEACH US TO PRAY to cultivate a habit of prayer.. Don't get to Christmas morning without preparing. ...Let every heart prepare him room. If you prefer, you can subscribe to the podcast here.

Love you friends,
